Have I mentioned that I absolutely love doing portrait sessions in our new studio? Well, I do. I have always been an available light kind of gal (and I still love my on location sessions) but I adore having this new dimension to my work. And, let's face it, here in Michigan it's good to be able to go indoors from November to April!

We had a great time yesterday with Dr. D and her family. They came in for their annual holiday session and, as always, they were so much fun to be around. I have lots more to post from this session, but I know that Dr. D is waiting for her sneak peek, so here it is! Enjoy! (Click on the individual images for a better view. Sister Act ...
Kim (on the left) is getting married on Saturday.
Last night, she stopped by the studio with her sister, Lisa, an aspiring photographer who currently lives in Hawaii. After a mentoring session with Lisa, (a service we sometimes offer to future photographers who live outside our marketing area) we went into the studio for a few quick portraits -- the last ones where they're both single!! What fun!

The Day After ...
We traveled to St. Clair Shores yesterday for Stephanie and Andrew's Day After session.
And what, you ask, is a Day After session? Simple! It's a relaxed portrait session that we sometimes do after the wedding day (and all of the stresses that go along with it) has passed. Some clients want to get back into their wedding clothes and take fun photos without worrying about ruining the dress. For others, it's a chance to have a lifestyle portrait made.
When I saw Stephanie and Andrew's house on their wedding day, I knew that I just had to go back for more photographs. The house is an older cottage that Andrew, an architect, has beautifully transformed into a modern showpiece. It's a gorgeous space in which to live -- and in which to make photographs! (And I'm sure that's what the architect had in mind when he planned his wonderful renovation. :) )

We had a super-fun family portrait session with Dr. D and her kids. See those fantastic smiles? Dr. D is a terrific dentist who cured me of nearly 20 years of dentist-phobia in just one visit! I was thrilled when she asked us to photograph her family.
I should have known she'd be an ultra-cool mom. Her kids were terrific to hang out with and they had some great ideas for photos, too! Thanks so much for such a fun evening, guys. Here's a sneak peek from your session:
As many of you know, Maria Vervaet is an ultra-talented makeup artist with whom I love to work every chance I get. But what I never knew before Sunday is that she also comes from a terrific family (well, I could have guessed that...) and that they have a house on the lake! Maria's brother, Chris, his wife, Vanessa, and their son, Luis, were visiting from Europe. Sunday was Vanessa and Luis' last day Stateside. Sounds like family portrait time to me!
